An IndiGo flight operating from Indore to Raipur was forced to make an emergency return to Indore just 15 minutes after take-off on Tuesday morning. The aircraft, carrying 51 passengers, landed safely, following what has now been confirmed as a false alarm. Airport officials confirmed that the alarm triggered mid-flight turned out to be false, but as a standard safety protocol, the pilot opted to return without further risk.
According to officials, passengers were informed of the situation after the aircraft stabilised. IndiGo later cancelled the onward journey to Raipur as well as the return leg (flight 6E 7296), which was scheduled to depart from Raipur at 10:30am. The airline promptly communicated the cancellations to all affected passengers. Airline representatives confirmed that passengers were offered the choice to either reschedule their journeys or receive a full refund. Many appreciated the prompt action taken by the crew and the clear communication from ground staff.
The incident, although resolved without injury or technical failure, has renewed conversations around onboard safety systems and pilot decision-making in India’s aviation sector.
