The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has unveiled the “Pothole QuickFix” app, a user-friendly mobile application designed to streamline the reporting and resolution of potholes across the city. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and improve the efficiency of municipal services during the monsoon season.
The Pothole QuickFix app allows citizens to report potholes by uploading photos and geo-tagging their locations. The application is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms, making it accessible to a wide range of users. In addition to the mobile app, BMC has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot service, enabling residents to report issues directly via the messaging platform. Once a complaint is lodged through either the app or WhatsApp, it is routed to the concerned department, which is mandated to address the issue within 48 hours. If the matter is not resolved within the stipulated time frame, it is escalated to senior officials for further action. This system aims to ensure accountability and timely resolution of road-related issues.
The introduction of the Pothole QuickFix app reflects BMC’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve urban infrastructure and enhance public participation in civic maintenance. By providing citizens with an easy-to-use platform to report potholes, the initiative empowers residents to take an active role in maintaining the city’s roads. This move is part of a broader effort by BMC to address the perennial problem of potholes, which often lead to traffic disruptions and pose safety risks, especially during the monsoon season.
