Climate Tech Startups to Address Water Challenges

Bengaluru recently hosted a two-day conference organised by the Centre for Public Policy at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-B), in collaboration with IIT-IIT During the event, experts underscored the pivotal role of climate tech startups in addressing the growing water challenges brought on by climate change.

The conference focused on a range of topics, including the concerning rise in temperatures, India’s vulnerability to climate change, and potential initiatives to combat the issues related to water scarcity.

Mridula Ramesh, Founder of the Sundaram Climate Institute, emphasised the significance of embracing climate tech startups in addressing water challenges in an era of climate inertia. She referred to historical examples, such as the social importance of places like Bowli, which emphasised the critical role of water.  Recognising the vital role of water in managing this crisis, she stressed that it transcends mere policy.

Trilochan Shastry, a Professor of Decision Science and Former Dean of IIM-B, conveyed that their programmes aim not only to save water and trees but to empower people and improve lives across India.

As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, the pivotal role of innovative climate tech startups has become increasingly evident. These startups offer practical solutions for addressing water scarcity.
