The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd (NICDC) has secured approval from a key government panel to develop a ₹5,942 crore Multi-Modal Logistics Hub (MMLH) in Dadri, Greater Noida.
This ambitious project, spanning 334 hectares, is poised to become a cornerstone of the National Capital Region’s (NCR) freight and industrial ecosystem. Strategically situated at the convergence of the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, the Dadri MMLH offers unparalleled connectivity. It is seamlessly linked to National Highway 34, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport, positioning it as a central node in the NCR’s logistics network .
The facility is designed to handle 1.44 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containerized cargo annually, along with 7.8 million tonnes of non-containerized freight. It will feature 3 million square feet of mechanized warehousing, 0.3 million square feet of cold storage, and offer value-added services such as cross-docking, customization, stacking, and labelling .bUnder a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the project will be awarded to the private firm offering the highest Minimum Guaranteed Revenue (MGR) share to NICDC over a 45-year concession period, including a two-year construction phase. The private operator will be responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining the logistics hub, while NICDC will oversee land acquisition, rail yard development, external connectivity, and power supply, estimated at ₹2,337 crore .
To ensure the project’s success, the NICDC has implemented enhanced measures. The lock-in period for the project promoter’s equity has been extended to two years, surpassing the six-month requirement stipulated in the Model Concession Agreement. Additionally, the evaluation period for bidders’ technical capacity has been set at 10 years, double the standard five-year period. These adjustments aim to attract experienced and capable bidders to manage the project’s scale and complexity . The Dadri MMLH is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, with projections indicating the creation of approximately 100,000 jobs by 2040. It will serve as a catalyst for regional industrial efficiency, attracting investments, and enhancing the competitiveness of the NCR in global value chains .
As the project progresses, it is anticipated to play a pivotal role in transforming the logistics landscape of the NCR, contributing to sustainable economic growth and positioning India as a formidable player in the global logistics arena.
