MHADA Konkan Conducts Digital Lottery in Thane

In a bid to enhance transparency and efficiency in public housing allocation, the MHADA Konkan Housing Board is set to conduct a computerised lottery for 2,147 flats and 117 plots on February 5, 2025, at the Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha in Thane. The event will be graced by the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Housing Minister Eknath Shinde as the Chief Guest, while Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is expected to preside over the proceedings. This initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline housing allotments and ensure that deserving citizens gain access to affordable housing.

The lottery comes on the back of an overwhelming response, with the Konkan Board receiving a total of 24,911 applications accompanied by the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD). The application process, which commenced on October 11, 2024, covered housing and land parcels developed under various MHADA housing schemes across Thane city and district, Raigad, and Sindhudurg. The significant number of applications not only underscores the high demand for affordable housing but also reflects the efficacy of the government’s targeted housing policies. To manage the extensive applicant pool and ensure a seamless lottery process, the board has made comprehensive arrangements at the venue. Large LED screens will be installed both inside and outside the facility to display the results in real time, allowing attendees to monitor the proceedings closely.

In addition, the final list of successful applicants will be published on the official MHADA website at 6 PM, with notifications sent to the winners via email and SMS. The entire process is being conducted through the Integrated Housing Lottery Management System (IHLMS) 2.0, a fully digital platform that eliminates manual intervention and enhances the system’s overall transparency. Applicants who have completed the registration and eligibility verification process are automatically included in the lottery. Once selected, winners will receive an official intimation letter, followed by a provisional allotment letter once the requisite formalities have been completed. This digital transformation in the housing allocation process is expected to further boost public confidence and set a benchmark for efficient and equitable distribution of government housing resources. The robust response to this initiative is a testament to the growing demand for streamlined public services in the housing sector.
