Water Supply Disrupted in Sewri, Darukhana Due to Pipeline Leak

A significant water supply disruption has hit parts of Mumbai, with a 600 mm diameter pipeline leak in the F South Division affecting essential water flow to the Fosbery Reservoir. The leak was detected near the Reay Road Bombay Port Trust warehouse, prompting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to initiate urgent repair work.

The leak has caused a major disruption in the water supply to key areas including Sewri East, Darukhana, Indiranagar, and surrounding localities. While the civic body has mobilised teams to carry out repairs, they have faced technical difficulties, forcing them to shift to manual repair methods to expedite the process. As a result, residents in Sewri, Darukhana, Indiranagar, and nearby areas were left without water on Monday. The BMC further announced that water supply would be suspended in Ambewadi and Dattaram Lad Marg on Tuesday morning, causing additional inconvenience to local residents.

A civic official reassured that repair work is progressing rapidly, although it is expected to extend into the late hours of the day. Once the work is completed, the water supply is expected to be restored to normal levels. In the meantime, the BMC has urged residents to conserve water and use it wisely, given the ongoing repairs and limited supply in affected areas. The corporation is working diligently to resolve the issue and minimise disruptions, with a focus on restoring normal services as soon as possible.
