Noida Flyover Plan Clears DPR Stage, Two Lakh Residents to Benefit

The Noida Authority has prepared a detailed project report for a 610-metre, four-lane arch flyover between Sectors 148 and 150, a project estimated to cost Rs 84.16 crore and intended to improve direct connectivity for residents across six sectors.

The proposed structure will cross the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and connect Sectors 148, 149, 150, 151, 152 and 153. According to officials cited by Live Hindustan – NCR, the DPR will now be sent to IIT Roorkee for scrutiny. Further action will be taken after the institute gives its approval.

The flyover is being planned as a grade separator to provide a dedicated and direct road connection between the sectors. Noida Authority General Manager A K Arora said the structure would be built in an arch-shaped design. Once construction begins, the project is expected to take about one and a half years to complete.

The proposed flyover will be 9.5 metres wide and will use a steel span over the expressway. The span over the expressway is planned to be about 65 metres long. Officials said the arch design would allow the expressway traffic to continue without disruption because no pillar would be placed in the middle of the expressway carriageway. A pillar may be installed on the central divider, according to the report.

The structure will have spiral-shaped approach roads on both sides, connecting it to the service roads. These approaches will together form a substantial part of the project, with their total reported length stated as 545 metres. The design is intended to carry traffic above the expressway while maintaining movement on the road below.

The authority’s plan comes as residential development expands around Sectors 150, 151 and 152. These sectors are part of the Sports City projects, where about 30,000 flats and thousands of plots have been proposed. Several flats have already been completed and occupied, increasing vehicle pressure on the surrounding roads.

Officials said more residents are expected to move into the area over the next three to four years. The authority has cited the anticipated increase in traffic and the need to prevent congestion towards Sectors 148 and 149 as reasons for deciding to develop the flyover.

The project is also intended to address a connectivity gap between sectors that are separated by the expressway. For residents, the planned link could reduce the need to use longer or indirect routes between the residential areas, although the final traffic arrangements will depend on the approved design and construction-stage decisions.

The immediate milestone is the technical examination of the DPR by IIT Roorkee. Construction will proceed only after the report receives the required approval and the authority advances the subsequent implementation process.
