Patna traffic diversions will be enforced on November 6 and 7 around major markets, Budh Marg and the Lodipur mall as the city prepares for Dhanteras and Diwali shopping. The Patna Traffic Police plan includes route closures, one-way movement, restrictions on goods vehicles and dedicated parking arrangements on JP Ganga Path.
The restrictions will be concentrated around Khetan Market, Chudi Market, Budh Marg and the mall at Lodipur, where vehicle movement is expected to face pressure during the festive period. Fire tenders, ambulances, vehicles carrying patients and vehicles transporting mortal remains will be exempted from the restrictions.
Around Khetan Market and Chudi Market, vehicles travelling from Machhuatoli and Bari Path towards Bakarganj will not be allowed to use their usual route. Traffic from Machhuatoli towards West Bari Path and Bakarganj will instead be diverted through Makhaniyan Kuan and Ashok Rajpath.
Vehicles travelling from Dinkar Golambar towards Nala Road and Machhuatoli will also face restrictions. Those heading towards Ashok Rajpath will be permitted to travel via Dinkar Golambar and Premchand Golambar. The movement of goods vehicles from both sides of Dinkar Golambar towards Sahitya Sammelan and Nala Road will be prohibited between 2 pm and 10 pm on both days.
Traffic moving eastwards from Bakarganj towards Machhuatoli will be restricted as well. Vehicles approaching from the Kadamkuan turn will not be permitted to enter Chudi Market or the Thakurbari turn. Freight vehicles travelling from Buddha Murti Golambar towards Nala Road will be diverted through West Lohanipur and Rajendra Nagar.
Additional arrangements have been announced around Budh Marg and the mall at Lodipur. The stretch from Chhajjubagh turn towards the mall will operate as a one-way route, with emergency vehicles exempted. Autos and e-rickshaws coming from Kotwali on Budh Marg will be allowed to proceed towards East Chhajjubagh.
Vehicles leaving the mall’s parking complex will have to take a left turn towards the new police line. From there, they will be able to continue towards their destinations via Ashok Rajpath or Marine Drive. Vehicles approaching the mall from Ashok Rajpath will be able to reach the area through Bank Road and New Police Centre Gate No. 1.
The traffic police have also arranged parking along JP Ganga Path. One lane between Digha Golambar and LCT Ghat will be used for parking small four-wheelers during the festive rush. The measure is intended to support traffic management while keeping vehicle movement organised on routes serving crowded commercial areas.
The restrictions and diversions will remain in force on November 6 and 7, with the specified goods-vehicle restrictions applying from 2 pm to 10 pm on both days.
