The 74.4-km Jewar Link Expressway connecting the Ganga Expressway with Noida International Airport is moving closer to construction, with 92% of the required land in the Yamuna Authority area acquired and a three-year completion target set for the project.
The greenfield, access-controlled expressway will connect the Ganga Expressway in Bulandshahr with the Yamuna Expressway near Film City in Sector 21. Construction is expected to begin from the Siyana area of Bulandshahr and continue towards the Yamuna Expressway.
The project is being developed across areas under different authorities. The 24.5-km stretch falling within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area has been assigned to Afcons Infrastructure Limited. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority has awarded Afcons a contract worth approximately ₹2,086 crore for the work in the YEIDA area, according to the report.
The expressway is intended to improve access between the Ganga Expressway, the Noida region and Noida International Airport. Its route will also bring the airport and the planned Film City area into a wider regional road network, although the supplied report does not provide a detailed project schedule beyond the three-year completion target.
Land acquisition has been one of the immediate requirements for starting the work. The Yamuna Authority has completed the purchase of about 92% of the land in its jurisdiction, allowing the construction process to move ahead. The report states that work on the expressway is expected to begin soon, but it does not specify the exact construction start date or the contractor arrangements for every section of the 74.4-km route.
The development comes alongside a separate traffic-relief project in Noida. The Noida Authority has sent the detailed project report for a proposed underpass below the Parthala flyover roundabout to IIT Roorkee for examination of its design and estimated cost.
The proposed Parthala underpass will be 710 metres long and six lanes wide. It is planned between sectors 121 and 122-123 on the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway. The project is estimated to cost about ₹92 crore and is intended to reduce congestion at the roundabout below the flyover.
The authority has set a target of beginning construction of the underpass by December, subject to the technical review. Once IIT Roorkee completes its assessment of the design and cost, the authority is expected to start the tender process for selecting a construction agency.
