The Taj Express will now operate from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station instead of New Delhi, with revised timings for trains 12280 and 12279, affecting passengers travelling between Faridabad, Delhi, Agra and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction. The change was announced through a Northern Railway notification and was reported on November 3, 2026.
Train number 12280, which previously departed from New Delhi at 6:55 am, will now leave Hazrat Nizamuddin at 7:05 am. It is scheduled to reach Faridabad at 7:21 am and depart two minutes later at 7:23 am for Agra.
The return service, train number 12279, operates from Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction. It previously reached Faridabad at 8:45 pm before continuing to New Delhi, where it arrived at 9:35 pm. Under the revised arrangement, the train will terminate at Hazrat Nizamuddin at 9:25 pm.
For passengers in Faridabad, the change means that the Taj Express will continue to serve the city, but the Delhi terminal for both directions will move south from New Delhi to Hazrat Nizamuddin. Travellers who had planned to board the train at New Delhi will now need to reach Hazrat Nizamuddin instead.
The revised schedule is particularly relevant for passengers using the train for daily or intercity travel towards Agra and Jhansi, as well as those connecting from other parts of Delhi. Passengers leaving from Faridabad have also been advised to check the updated arrival and departure information before starting their journey.
Northern Railway has asked passengers to use the Rail Madad helpline at 139, the Indian Railways website or the National Train Enquiry System application to confirm the detailed schedule. The railway’s advisory includes checking timings for the intermediate stations because arrival and departure information may differ across the route.
Passengers travelling on the Taj Express have been advised to account for the change in terminal station and allow additional time for reaching Hazrat Nizamuddin. Checking the train number, boarding station and latest timetable before departure will help avoid confusion or missed connections during the transition.
