Vishwa Umiya Dham Plans ₹700 Crore Hospital in Ahmedabad

Vishwa Umiya Dham in Jaspur, Ahmedabad, has announced plans to build a 500-plus-bed multispeciality hospital at an estimated cost of ₹700 crore, along with a hostel for 2,000 students and a skill university within its campus.

The proposed healthcare and education facilities were announced by R.P. Patel, president of the Vishwa Umiya Foundation, during a meeting of more than 80 Patidar organisations from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The announcement was made alongside a global blood donation campaign organised by the foundation’s youth organisation.

According to the foundation, the International Mega Blood Donation Campaign collected more than 25,000 units of blood from 151 locations across seven countries, including India and the United States. The foundation said the campaign achieved a record recognised by the Golden Book of World Records.

The blood donation drive was organised as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 151st birth anniversary. The foundation’s announcement places the proposed hospital and associated institutions within the wider Vishwa Umiya Dham campus, where a temple is already being developed.

Patel said the foundation had decided to build a hospital in addition to the temple. The planned facility is described as a multispeciality hospital with more than 500 beds, but the announcement does not specify its construction schedule, proposed medical departments, financing structure, land approvals or the agency responsible for operating it.

The foundation also plans to construct accommodation for 2,000 boys and girls. It said the skill university would be developed along with the hostel, although no details were provided on the university’s proposed courses, affiliation, governing body or implementation timeline.

The proposed facilities would add healthcare, accommodation and skills-training functions to the campus. Their eventual urban significance will depend on approvals, financing, construction progress, access arrangements and how the institutions are integrated with surrounding transport and public services. The announcement did not provide details on these aspects.

The plans were discussed at a broader meeting attended by presidents and secretaries of more than 80 community organisations operating in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The foundation has not announced a specific deadline for starting or completing the hospital, hostel or skill university. Further project details and implementation milestones remain to be announced.
