Aurangabad Railway Parcel Office Introduces QR Code Facility to Streamline Payments

The South Central Railway (SCR) has introduced a QR code facility for parcel payments at Aurangabad Railway Station and other key stations in Marathwada, including Nanded, Parbhani, and Purna. This new initiative is available at 36 stations under SCR’s jurisdiction and aims to enhance convenience for rail users and streamline operations.

The QR code facility allows customers to make payments digitally via UPI, reducing the reliance on cash transactions and significantly speeding up the parcel booking process. This initiative is part of SCR’s broader push to promote digital payments and improve the ease of doing business, as highlighted by Arun Kumar Jain, the General Manager of SCR. By utilizing the Parcel Management System (PMS) IT application, the system is integrated with QR code display devices, allowing users to scan a transaction-specific code to complete their payments effortlessly. A Sridhar, the Chief Public Relations Officer of SCR, noted that the QR code system is designed to simplify payment processes and minimize transaction times, benefiting both customers and the railway administration. The parcel office at Aurangabad, which handles transactions worth crores annually, stands to gain immensely from the introduction of this facility. The move is expected to make the parcel booking experience faster, safer, and more efficient, while also supporting the growing trend of cashless transactions in the railway sector. With the rise in digital payment adoption, this new facility is set to improve the overall operational efficiency of railway parcel services in the region.
