The Mumbai Bengaluru Vande Bharat sleeper train will begin regular service on November 3, reducing the reported Pune-Bengaluru journey time to 13 hours and becoming the first sleeper Vande Bharat service to operate from Maharashtra, according to Sakal – Pune.
The train will be inaugurated at Bengaluru station on November 1 at around 11.30 am. During the inaugural run, it is scheduled to receive welcomes at Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur and Pune. The inauguration service is expected to reach Pune at about 11 pm on November 1, remain at the station for 10 to 15 minutes and arrive in Mumbai around 3 am.
Regular operations will run six days a week. The Bengaluru-Mumbai service will not operate on Mondays, while the Mumbai-Bengaluru service will not operate on Tuesdays. The schedule gives passengers an overnight connection between the two major urban regions, with intermediate access for travellers from Pune and Solapur.
Train number 27652 will depart from Bengaluru at 7.45 pm. It is scheduled to reach Solapur at 4.20 am, Pune at 8 am and Mumbai at 11.55 am. In the opposite direction, train number 27651 will leave Mumbai at 8.10 pm, reach Pune at 11.40 pm and Solapur at 3 am before arriving in Bengaluru at noon.
The service will consist of 16 coaches with a total passenger capacity of 823. Its composition will include 11 air-conditioned three-tier coaches with 611 berths, four air-conditioned two-tier coaches with 188 berths and one first-class air-conditioned coach with 24 berths.
For Pune, the service adds a direct overnight rail option to Bengaluru and Mumbai within a single operating corridor. The reported 13-hour Pune-Bengaluru journey is five hours shorter than the travel time cited in the report for the existing connection. The inclusion of Solapur and Pune also gives the service a wider catchment across western Maharashtra and northern Karnataka.
The timetable places the Bengaluru-bound departure from Mumbai in the evening and the arrival in Bengaluru around midday. The return service leaves Bengaluru in the evening and reaches Pune in the morning, allowing passengers to complete much of the journey overnight rather than using daytime travel.
The inauguration and regular service dates were reported by Sakal – Pune. The railway schedule, operating days, designated stops and coach configuration will determine how the new service is used by passengers across the Mumbai-Pune-Solapur-Bengaluru corridor.
