Construction of the Tarabari connectivity bridge in Badagabellur village of Bantwal will cost ₹1 crore and is scheduled to be completed within three months, MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady said after laying the foundation stone for the project on Tuesday.
The bridge is expected to improve access for local farmers and vehicle users in and around Tarabari, according to the legislator. The project is located in Badagabellur village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Naik said the bridge would make movement easier for people who currently depend on local routes in the area. His statement identified agricultural users and motorists as the principal groups expected to benefit from the connectivity project.
The announcement provides the estimated project cost and a three-month completion target, but the report does not specify the bridge’s length, width, design, agency responsible for execution or the source of funding. It also does not provide details of the existing crossing or the present condition of access roads leading to Tarabari.
The project’s stated purpose is to create a connection for local movement rather than to form part of a larger regional transport corridor. For farmers, a bridge at the village level can affect access between agricultural areas, homes and nearby roads. For vehicle users, the impact will depend on when construction begins, how traffic is managed during the work and whether the approach roads are ready for use once the bridge is completed.
The foundation ceremony was attended by local representatives and residents, including Devappa Poojary, Sudarshan Baj, Prakash Alva, Ramesh Poojary Battaje, Nandaram Rai, Savita Shetty, Mohandas Kottari, Mamata Padmanabha, Umesh Shetty Parimogaru, Raghuveer Acharya, Radhakrishna Tantri, Karthik Ballal, Mohan Melanta, Suresh Kotyan, Thimmappa Rai, Prasad Rai, Ravindra Melanta, Thimmappa Shetty, Prasanna Bhandary, Jagadish Rai, Jagadish Engineer, Dinesh Poojary Battaje and Shashikiran Poojary. Contractor Dheeraj Naik was also present.
The next stated milestone is completion of the bridge within three months. Further technical and administrative details were not included in the announcement.
