Tamil Nadu ITI appointments for 673 junior training officers were issued at an event in Chennai, where Chief Minister Vijay also inaugurated new skill-training laboratories and witnessed an agreement to establish modern electrical laboratories at government industrial training institutes across the state.
The event was held at the Industrial Training Institute campus in Guindy, according to a report by Dinamalar. The chief minister opened the new skill-training laboratories and viewed projects displayed inside the facility. He also interacted with students, praised their work and posed for a group photograph with them.
Students who secured top positions in the All India Trade Test were presented with certificates of appreciation during the programme. The event combined recognition of trainee performance with the appointment of new personnel for the state’s government ITI system.
Appointment orders were issued to 673 junior training officers at government industrial training institutes. The officers are expected to add teaching and training capacity within the public vocational education network, although the report did not provide details on their postings, trades, joining dates or the locations of the institutes to which they have been assigned.
The programme also included the exchange of a memorandum of understanding in the presence of the chief minister for setting up modern electrical laboratories at government ITI campuses. The laboratories are being established with an investment of ₹12.6 crore from Schneider Electric, the report said. The available information does not specify the number of campuses covered, the implementation schedule, the equipment to be installed or the training modules planned under the agreement.
Government ITIs form part of the institutional infrastructure through which states prepare workers for industrial, electrical and other technical occupations. In this case, the appointments and laboratory agreement address two separate components of that system: staffing capacity and training facilities. Further details on the postings of the 673 officers and the rollout of the laboratories are expected from the state government and the participating institutions.
