The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth ₹23.35 crore linked to Congress MLA K.C. Veerendra in an alleged illegal online betting and money-laundering case, according to a statement reported by Prajavani. The action includes movable assets valued at ₹13.76 crore and immovable properties worth ₹9.58 crore.
The latest attachment takes the total value of assets attached in the case to approximately ₹343 crore, the report said. The action forms part of the agency’s investigation into online betting operations and the movement of funds connected with them.
The ED has also attached assets belonging to Gulshan Khattar of Simtech, the company that was allegedly responsible for developing and managing online betting applications for Veerendra, according to the agency’s statement cited in the report. The Enforcement Directorate also named Neha Tandon, a director of the company, as an accused.
The agency said Tandon was not involved in the transactions but was made an accused because transactions were carried out in the name of her company. The report did not provide further details about the value or nature of the assets attached in relation to Khattar or Tandon.
According to the ED, online betting operations allegedly linked to Veerendra were conducted through casinos in different parts of Karnataka and through several online applications. The agency has estimated that approximately ₹2,300 crore was earned through online betting activities in the case.
The attachment of property is a provisional enforcement measure that restricts the disposal or transfer of assets during proceedings. It does not by itself amount to a final judicial finding of guilt. The report did not include a response from Veerendra, Khattar or Tandon to the allegations or the latest action.
The case highlights the expanding enforcement challenge posed by digital betting networks that combine online applications, payment channels and physical gambling venues. The ED’s latest action adds to the financial trail being examined in the investigation, with the agency’s stated focus on identifying and securing assets allegedly connected to the case.
