Mysuru’s final electoral roll has 22,80,067 voters after the special intensive revision (SIR), with 31,313 new electors aged 18 to 19 added and two FIRs registered over alleged bulk submissions seeking voter deletions.
The final list was published on Tuesday by the Mysuru district administration. Women voters outnumber men by 49,477, according to the figures released after additions and deletions during the revision process.
The district had 27,99,693 registered voters on June 30. That number fell to 22,42,452 when the draft electoral roll was published on August 24 as part of the SIR exercise. The final count increased to 22,80,067 after the revision process included new enrolments and other changes.
District Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer G Lakshmikanth Reddy said the electoral rolls for the assembly constituencies had been made available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, and on the district administration’s official website. Voters have been asked to check whether their names appear on the list and whether their personal details have been recorded correctly.
The administration said two FIRs had been registered against a few people on charges including cheating, forgery and promoting enmity. The cases relate to allegations that Form 7 applications were submitted in bulk. Form 7 is used to request deletion of a name from the electoral roll.
The figures make verification of individual entries an important step for voters, particularly after the substantial movement between the June, draft and final rolls. The district administration’s online publication of the rolls gives electors a way to confirm their inclusion and check the accuracy of their details before the next election.
Mysuru added 31,313 voters in the 18-19 age group during the SIR process. These first-time electors are expected to be eligible to vote in the next election, subject to the applicable electoral process and their names remaining on the roll.
Among the assembly constituencies, Narasimharaja recorded the highest number of teenage voters at 4,419, followed by Chamundeshwari with 4,152. Across Karnataka, 6.8 lakh teenage voters were registered during the 49-day SIR exercise, including 14,728 female voters, according to the data cited in the report.
The final Mysuru roll also includes 30,458 voters with disabilities, 179 non-resident Indian voters, 1,112 service electors and 2,750 VIP electors. Voters can access the final list through the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka website at ceokarnataka.gov.in and the Mysuru district website at mysore.nic.in.
