Delhi Voter List Clears 31.26 Lakh Names for Final Roll

Delhi’s voter-list revision has moved into its final stage, with 31,26,576 names linked to notices now recommended for inclusion in the final electoral roll, while 47,56,722 names were left out of the draft list after voters did not submit enumeration forms, according to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office.

The figures were released on Tuesday as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process entered its closing phase. The final voter list is scheduled to be published on December 4. The deadline for filing claims and objections is October 30, leaving voters three days to seek corrections or challenge exclusions, according to the report by Live Hindustan – NCR.

The Delhi CEO’s office said 33,14,032 notices had been issued to voters identified through the verification system. Of these, 31,26,576 notices, or 94.34 per cent, had been disposed of. The names connected with these disposed notices have been kept for inclusion in the final electoral roll, the office said.

The revision began on June 30, when enumeration forms were issued to 1,45,10,299 registered voters in Delhi. By August 17, 97,53,577 voters had submitted their forms. Their names were included in the draft electoral roll published on August 31. The remaining 47,56,722 names were excluded from the draft because forms had not been submitted.

The report said the names left out of the draft were placed in categories including absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate voters. The figures therefore cover more than one type of electoral-roll discrepancy and do not, by themselves, establish that all excluded entries were fraudulent. The CEO’s office has said that the notice-disposal process will be completed within the prescribed timeline.

To facilitate claims and verification, the Election Commission organised special camps at polling stations, colleges and for specific groups of voters. Booth-level officers also visited voters’ homes, while camps were used to help affected individuals submit documents or forms. However, only 27,510 people submitted Form 6, used by new voters to seek enrolment, during the special camps.

The scale of the revision places the final claims period at the centre of the process. The draft list contained 97.53 lakh names from an initial electorate of 1.45 crore, while the status of millions of excluded names depended on verification, notice disposal and claims filed within the prescribed window. The final electoral roll will show how many of these cases are ultimately restored or remain excluded.

The immediate next step is the completion of pending notice disposals and the submission of claims and objections by October 30. The revised final voter list is due to be published on December 4.
