Cyclone Arnab Disrupts Rail Travel as SCR Cancels 12 Trains

The South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled 12 train services on Tuesday as Cyclone Arnab approaches, citing passenger safety and the expected impact of the weather system on rail operations. The cancellations affect long-distance and regional services originating from or passing through Telangana, including routes from Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Lingampalli, Charlapalli and Mahbubnagar.

Among the cancelled services are train number 12704 from Secunderabad to Howrah, 17016 from Secunderabad to Bhubaneswar New, and 12728 from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam. SCR has also cancelled train number 12862 from Mahbubnagar to Visakhapatnam and 12740 from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam.

Several services from Lingampalli have also been affected. These include train number 12776 to Kakinada Town, 17256 to Narasapur and 12738 to Kakinada Port. The railway has additionally cancelled train number 20810 from H.S. Nanded to Sambalpur, along with services 07037 from Charlapalli to Srikakulam Road and 07038 from Srikakulam Road to Charlapalli.

Train number 12788, operating from Nagarsol to Narasapur, has been partially cancelled. SCR’s announcement did not provide further details in the supplied information about the affected section or the revised operating plan for that service.

The cancellations show how cyclone conditions can disrupt the railway network beyond the immediate coastal zone. Long-distance services connecting Telangana with Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and other regions may be affected when operating conditions are assessed as unsafe or when route-level precautions are required.

Passengers scheduled to travel on the listed services should check the latest information from South Central Railway before reaching the station. The cancellations were announced in the interest of passenger safety as Cyclone Arnab was described as imminent.
