Traffic authorities have inspected 11 accident-prone locations and black spots along National Highway-765 in Telangana’s Maheshwaram, Kandukur, Kadthal and Amangal areas, launching a coordinated review of road-safety risks and preventive measures.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Future City Police Commissionerate, Shivam Upadhyaya, IPS, led the inspection on Tuesday in coordination with the Traffic Police, Law and Order Police, National Highways authorities, Transport Department and Municipal Administration.
The inspection covered Thummalur Gate, Rachulur Gate, Peddamma Temple, Kandukur X Road, Kothur X Road, Navaru Balreddy Garden at Kandukur, MRR Restaurant at Kandukur, Nedunur Gate and Debbadaguda Gate under Maheshwaram Traffic Police Station limits. Mucherla Gate under Kadthal Police Station limits and the Cotton Mill area under Amangal Police Station limits were also examined.
Officials assessed the locations to identify factors linked to road accidents and fatalities. The DCP discussed preventive measures and possible road-safety improvements with NH-765 authorities, while stressing the need for coordination between departments to reduce risks for motorists.
The joint inspection brings together agencies with different responsibilities for highway safety. Traffic and law-and-order police are responsible for enforcement and local coordination, while National Highways officials oversee highway-related measures. Transport officials, municipal authorities and field engineering staff also participated in the exercise.
The inspection team included J. Ashok Kumar, Inspector at Maheshwaram Traffic Police Station; Shankaraiah, Inspector at Amangal Traffic Police Station; Venkateshwarlu, Station House Officer at Kandukur Police Station; Saidi Reddy, Station House Officer at Kadthal Police Station; Venkateshwarlu, Station House Officer at Amangal Police Station; and Dhanujaya, Sub-Inspector at Maheshwaram Law and Order Police Station.
Officials from other departments who attended included Motor Vehicle Inspector Raghavulu, Regional Officer Srinivas, NH-765 Deputy Engineer Ashwini and Amangal Municipal Commissioner Raghavender. Their participation reflects the multi-agency nature of addressing accident-prone highway locations, where enforcement, road engineering, land-use activity and roadside regulation can overlap.
As part of the action, notices were issued to wine-shop owners operating on both sides of NH-765. The establishments were instructed to maintain a distance of 500 metres from the National Highway and were warned that violations and illegal activities could attract legal action under applicable laws.
The Future City Traffic Police said coordinated inspections, identification of black spots and preventive action would remain part of efforts to improve highway safety. The authorities’ next steps will involve determining and implementing the necessary measures at the 11 inspected locations.
