Swiggy Delivery Partners Get Wider Insurance Cover in FY26

Swiggy has renewed its insurance programme for more than 25 lakh delivery partners for FY26, providing accident and health benefits through IndusInd General Insurance Company Ltd. The cover includes protection for delivery workers and, under family benefits, their spouses and children.

The renewed policy provides accidental death cover of ₹10 lakh and in-patient hospitalisation cover of up to ₹2 lakh. Family health coverage is available up to ₹1 lakh. The policy also covers pre-existing diseases from the first day, without a waiting period, according to the details reported by The Hindu BusinessLine.

Women delivery partners and the spouses of male delivery partners are eligible for maternity benefits where family coverage applies. In the previous policy period, spouses of delivery partners accounted for 75 per cent of maternity claims. The figure indicates that family-linked benefits form a substantial part of the protection package for workers in the platform-based delivery economy.

The programme includes both cashless and reimbursement facilities for hospitalisation, day-care procedures and outpatient treatment. Additional provisions include emergency ambulance services of up to ₹10,000 and outpatient treatment cover of up to ₹10,000. The policy also provides child education support in cases involving accidental death or permanent total disability, along with loss-of-pay support.

Covered delivery partners and their families will also have access to round-the-clock teleconsultations with general physicians and specialists. These services are available through the renewed insurance programme alongside the hospitalisation and accident benefits.

Saurav Goyal, Chief Operating Officer of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace, said the programme had evolved into one of the most comprehensive protection initiatives in India’s gig economy. The statement comes as app-based delivery has become an essential part of everyday urban consumption and depends on a large workforce operating across cities and weather conditions.

Swiggy operates across more than 750 cities and has over 7.6 lakh delivery partners, according to the information reported in the company-related announcement. The insurance programme, however, is described as covering more than 25 lakh delivery partners in FY26, indicating that the renewed arrangement extends across the company’s wider delivery-partner base as specified by Swiggy.

IndusInd General Insurance, formerly known as Reliance General Insurance, is the insurer for the renewed programme. The company operates 128 branches nationally. The arrangement places insurance protection within the operating framework of a platform whose delivery network connects households, restaurants and workers across India’s urban markets.

The renewed cover does not alter the contractual or employment status of delivery partners in the information available, but it adds defined health, accident and family benefits to the platform’s worker-support programme. The FY26 policy period will determine how partners access the stated cashless, reimbursement, outpatient, maternity and assistance provisions.
