A case has been registered in Bengaluru after a gold bracelet belonging to a Central Crime Branch inspector allegedly went missing during a search at an apartment linked to a JDS social media worker, with police issuing notices to two women for questioning.
The case was registered at the Byadarahalli police station based on a complaint by CCB inspector G.M. Kavitha. The complaint names Pavithra, the wife of JDS worker Mohan Gowda, and another woman named Pavithra, who lives next door to the apartment. Police said both women have been asked to appear for questioning.
The search was connected to an investigation involving a video allegedly circulated about Siddaramaiah, described in the report as an AICC Working Committee member. Mohan Gowda, who works with the JDS social media wing, is facing allegations in connection with the circulation of the video, according to the police account reported by Prajavani.
Police said Inspector Kavitha went to Mohan Gowda’s flat at Lakshya Royal Manor Apartments in Bharat Nagar at around 6 p.m. on October 23 to execute a search warrant. She was accompanied by investigating officer Mukaram and other police personnel. The search was conducted as part of the investigation into the video-related case.
After the search, Kavitha allegedly asked Mohan Gowda’s wife to hand over a mobile phone. According to the complaint, she refused, following which the inspector tried to take possession of the phone. An argument reportedly followed. The neighbouring Pavithra then came to the apartment and also argued with the officer. Police said a physical altercation involving pushing and jostling subsequently took place between the three women.
During the incident, a gold bracelet weighing approximately nine grams and worn by Kavitha broke and fell on a bed in the room, according to the complaint. The inspector allegedly did not notice the bracelet during the commotion and returned to the police station after completing the search.
The bracelet was later found to be missing. Police said Kavitha reviewed a video recording made during the search and saw the bracelet lying on the bed. She then returned to the residence and asked about it. The complaint states that Pavithra responded that she did not know anything about the bracelet.
The complaint also seeks action against the two women for allegedly obstructing the inspector while she was performing official duties. The police have registered the case and issued notices for questioning. The investigation was continuing, according to the police information cited in the report.
