Delhi Traffic Diversions Put Central Routes on Alert During VVIP Move

Delhi traffic diversions will affect several central Delhi routes for two hours during a scheduled VVIP movement, with restrictions, regulation and possible route changes expected between 10am and noon, according to the traffic police advisory reported by Jagran.

The affected locations include ITO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, Rajghat DTC Depot and the IP Flyover area. Commuters using these corridors have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, leave with sufficient time and use public transport where possible.

Traffic movement may be controlled on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg between ITO Chowk and Delhi Gate. On Asaf Ali Road, regulation may be introduced between Delhi Gate and NS Marg. The advisory also covers the stretch between Shantivan Chowk and Nishad Raj Marg.

Further changes may be implemented from Guru Nanak Chowk towards Ranjit Singh Flyover and from Rajghat DTC Depot towards the Ring Road bypass. The traffic police has said that the precise restrictions will depend on traffic conditions and operational requirements during the VVIP movement.

The affected network connects important central Delhi junctions and links arterial roads serving the ITO, Delhi Gate, Rajghat and older walled-city approaches. Even temporary controls on these links can alter traffic flows across adjoining roads, making advance planning important for motorists travelling through the area during the advisory window.

The notice does not establish that every listed road will be fully closed. Instead, it indicates that restrictions, regulation or diversions may be imposed as required. Commuters should therefore follow instructions from traffic personnel and use official traffic updates before starting their journeys.

Public transport may reduce exposure to route-level delays, although passengers connecting through central Delhi should also allow additional time for changes in road access around the listed junctions. Emergency and other essential journeys should account for the possibility of slower movement and controlled access.

The traffic police advisory remains focused on the period from 10am to noon. Traffic arrangements will be implemented around the VVIP movement in response to operational requirements and prevailing road conditions.
