Uttar Pradesh will host the GCC Innovation Summit 2026 in Lucknow on Monday as the state government seeks investments in Global Capability Centres, research and development, advanced analytics and digital engineering. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate the day-long summit, which will bring the government together with global companies and universities.
The summit is expected to include the exchange of memoranda of understanding with GCC companies and universities. Letters of comfort will also be handed over to companies planning to establish GCC units in Uttar Pradesh, according to the report.
GCCs carry out functions including research, product development, advanced analytics and digital operations for multinational companies. The state government is positioning the sector as part of its effort to expand Uttar Pradesh’s presence in technology-driven services and strengthen its innovation ecosystem.
Alok Kumar, principal secretary for IT and electronics, said the initiative was part of the state’s resolve to build its footprint in technology-driven services. His statement places the summit within a broader effort to attract investment connected to higher-value digital and knowledge-based activities rather than only conventional industrial projects.
The proposed agreements and letters of comfort are intended to support companies considering GCC units in the state. The report does not specify the number of companies involved, the proposed investment value, the locations of the planned units or the employment commitments associated with them.
The event will also examine the role of universities in the state’s GCC and research ecosystem. The participation of universities alongside companies indicates that the government is linking investment promotion with research, talent and innovation capacity, although the report does not provide details of the institutions involved or the programmes that may follow from the agreements.
Industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, IT and electronics minister Sunil Kumar Sharma, and minister of state for parliamentary affairs and industrial development Jaswant Singh Saini are also scheduled to attend the summit. Their participation brings the state’s technology and industrial development departments into the investment-focused event.
The immediate milestones from the summit will be the signing of the MoUs and the handover of letters of comfort to companies planning GCC units in Uttar Pradesh. Details of the participating firms, proposed locations and implementation timelines will determine the scale of the investment pipeline announced at the event.
