Indore’s Kumedi Inter-State Bus Terminal along MR-10 will begin a trial run on October 28, with long-distance buses bound for Rajasthan and Gujarat set to operate from the new facility as authorities seek to reduce traffic pressure and organise inter-state bus services.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by district collector Shiv Verma at the Indore Smart City Office auditorium. Officials discussed the terminal’s operational logistics, bus movement patterns and passenger amenities ahead of the trial.
During the initial phase, buses serving designated destinations in Rajasthan and Gujarat will be rerouted to Kumedi ISBT. Bus operators covering these routes have given verbal consent to support the trial, according to the information shared after the meeting.
The trial is intended to test the terminal’s operational framework before full-scale commercial operations begin. Authorities will assess how buses move through the facility and identify adjustments required for smoother operations. The supplied information does not specify the duration of the trial or a final date for the terminal’s full operationalisation.
The meeting was attended by Indore Development Authority CEO Sandeep Kerketta, Smart City CEO Arth Jain, regional transport officer Pradeep Sharma, the additional superintendent of police for traffic, senior representatives of the Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited and private long-distance bus operators.
Once operationalised, the shift of inter-state bus services to Kumedi ISBT is expected by the authorities to reduce vehicular pressure on major city corridors and improve the management of inter-city transit in Indore. The October 28 trial will provide the next operational milestone for the terminal and participating bus operators.
