The Diljit Dosanjh concert in Delhi will go ahead at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30 October after Delhi Police granted permission subject to tighter crowd-control and security measures. Organisers have been asked to increase the number of private security personnel and reduce the planned audience size.
The approval reverses an earlier refusal by the police to allow the event. Authorities had cited security threats, festival-related deployment requirements and wider law-and-order concerns while considering the request for the ‘Aura India Tour Delhi’ concert.
According to the report by Live Hindustan – NCR, permission was granted only after the organisers accepted several conditions. The police have specifically required additional private security staff and a lower crowd count, reflecting concerns about managing a large gathering at the stadium.
The earlier decision was conveyed in a letter dated 21 October from South Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Anant Mittal to Anil Makhija, director of BookMyShow Live Private Limited. The letter said the request to hold the concert had been examined but could not be approved at that stage because of specific threat information, security responsibilities during the festival period and other law-and-order concerns.
The reversal means the event can proceed, but its operations will be governed by restrictions imposed by the police. The report does not specify the revised audience capacity, the number of additional private security personnel required or the complete list of conditions attached to the approval.
The concert is expected to attract a large number of fans. The event had also triggered questions from the Delhi unit of the Aam Aadmi Party after the initial refusal. Party chief Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned why permission had not been granted, noting the singer’s popularity among Indian youth and in Punjab.
The Delhi concert is scheduled to open the India leg of Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Aura World Tour’. After the national capital, the singer is scheduled to perform in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh. The tour has also included concerts in North America, Europe and Australia.
For the venue and organisers, the immediate operational task is to implement the police conditions before the event. These include strengthening private security arrangements and controlling the number of people admitted to the stadium. The final crowd capacity and detailed security plan were not provided in the supplied report.
