IndiGo has cancelled flights to and from four Saudi Arabian cities amid heightened security concerns, with the suspension lasting until 27 October for Jeddah, Dammam and Medina, and until 31 October for Riyadh. The decision affects passengers travelling between India and Saudi Arabia and comes as reported tensions continue across the region.
According to an advisory cited by Aaj Tak Business, IndiGo said it had taken the decision after carefully assessing the changing security situation. The airline said the safety and wellbeing of its customers and crew remained its highest priority, while it continued to monitor developments and coordinate with relevant authorities.
Flights connecting India with Riyadh will remain cancelled through 31 October 2026. Services to and from Jeddah, Dammam and Medina have been cancelled through 27 October 2026. The airline has advised passengers to check their booking and flight status on the IndiGo website before travelling.
The suspension places an immediate burden on passengers who may have planned work, family, religious or business travel between India and Saudi Arabia. It also affects Umrah pilgrims who are returning to India or waiting to travel. The report said more than 10,000 other Umrah pilgrims had already returned to India, while efforts were continuing to assist those still stranded.
Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said stranded Indian Umrah pilgrims were returning safely, according to the report. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Indian Consulate in Jeddah are operating round-the-clock control rooms to assist Indian nationals. The measures indicate that the disruption is being managed not only as an airline scheduling issue but also as a consular and passenger-support matter.
Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia can contact the Indian Embassy in Riyadh at +966-554412016 and +966-542126784. The embassy’s toll-free number, available only from within Saudi Arabia, is 8002471234. Messages can also be sent through WhatsApp at +966-536216082. The Indian Consulate in Jeddah can be reached at +966-12-2614093 and +966-556122301, while its WhatsApp number is +966-536209704.
IndiGo said affected customers were being informed about the disruption at the time of booking and advised travellers to verify their flight status before making their way to the airport. The airline’s current cancellation schedule will remain in place through the stated dates, subject to further assessment of the security situation and coordination with the relevant authorities.
