Mysuru Opens Sayyajirao Road Subway to Improve Pedestrian Safety

Mysuru City Corporation has opened a pedestrian subway on Sayyajirao Road for public use from Saturday, providing residents with a designated and safer route to cross the busy road.

The facility was constructed to support public convenience and improve safety on a stretch where vehicle movement has increased. The subway is intended to help pedestrians avoid crossing the road directly amid traffic.

The corporation has installed CCTV cameras inside the subway as part of measures to strengthen public safety. Dustbins have also been placed to support cleanliness, while murals have been painted on the walls to improve the appearance of the facility.

Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner M.K. Savita appealed to members of the public to use the pedestrian subway while crossing Sayyajirao Road. She also asked users to help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility.

The opening places responsibility on both the civic administration and users: the corporation will need to maintain surveillance, sanitation and the physical condition of the subway, while pedestrians have been asked to use the designated crossing facility.
