In a strategic move to enhance its brand visibility, the Kotak Mahindra Group has acquired the naming rights for two prominent metro stations in Mumbai. The BKC station on Metro Line 3 has been renamed Kotak Bandra-Kurla Complex Metro Station, while the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) station has also been secured by the group.
The renaming of the BKC station is particularly significant as it is located in one of Mumbai’s busiest commercial hubs. Kotak Mahindra Group has a strong presence in the area, with its headquarters and two large offices situated there. The branding rights will not only increase the group’s visibility but also reinforce its association with the thriving business district. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL) awarded naming rights for five stations on the Metro-3 line in September 2022, in a deal valued at INR 216 crore. Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (KMBL) partnered with the MMRCL to secure the naming rights for the BKC and CST stations.
Companies that acquire naming rights for metro stations gain several benefits. In addition to having their brand names prefixed to the station names, they also secure branding space within the stations, mentions in train announcements, and visibility on station maps.
The Kotak BKC Metro Station is equipped with modern amenities, including automated ticketing systems, ATMs, and a digital bank branch. The station’s strategic location and advanced facilities are expected to attract a large number of commuters and enhance the overall passenger experience. The renaming of the BKC and CST stations marks a significant milestone for the Kotak Mahindra Group. By associating its brand with these high-profile metro stations, the group is positioning itself as a leading player in the Mumbai market and demonstrating its commitment to the city’s development.
