Pune Housing Lottery Deadline Extended to October 22

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has extended the deadline for online applications to its Pune Board housing lottery to October 22, giving applicants more time to complete document verification and submit their applications.

The deadline has been extended by one week from the earlier closing date of October 15. This is the second time MHADA has pushed back the application deadline for the lottery, which covers homes offered under the board’s 15% Social Housing and 20% Inclusive Housing schemes.

The extension follows delays in the online verification of domicile and income certificates. According to Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, chairman of the MHADA Pune Board, 3,872 domicile certificates and 2,142 income certificates were still awaiting verification when the authority decided to extend the application window.

Patil said 1,65,028 applicants had registered for the lottery so far. Of these, 1,01,811 applicants had also paid the application deposit. The pending document checks affect applicants whose eligibility records have not yet been cleared through the online process.

Applicants whose domicile or income certificates remain under verification can now use the additional time to complete their applications by October 22. The extension is intended to ensure that applicants are not excluded from the process because their documents are still awaiting scrutiny by the authority.

The lottery is being conducted under MHADA Pune Board schemes that reserve housing for social and inclusive housing categories. Applicants are required to complete the online application process and meet the applicable documentation and eligibility requirements for the homes covered by the draw.

The scale of registrations shows the level of demand for housing offered through the Pune Board lottery. However, the figures supplied by MHADA distinguish between applicants who have registered and those who have paid the application deposit. Registration alone does not represent a completed application, while payment of the deposit is an additional step in the process.

The authority’s decision also places the document-verification process at the centre of the application timeline. Applicants with certificates still being checked will need to monitor their application status and complete any remaining formalities before the revised deadline. MHADA has set October 22 as the new last date for online applications.
