Central Railway Announces 154 Extra Festival Trains

As India gears up for the bustling festival season, Central Railway has announced a substantial increase in train services to manage the anticipated surge in passenger demand. To ensure smooth and efficient travel for those journeying to northern regions for Diwali and Chhath, the railway authorities will be operating 154 additional special trains across various routes.

The new services include a range of weekly and daily specials designed to cater to the diverse travel needs of passengers. Key highlights of the service expansion include:

  1. CSMT-Kolhapur Weekly Superfast Specials: Four additional services each way will be operational from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Kolhapur and vice versa. These trains will halt at major stations such as Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, and Miraj, featuring a mix of AC and non-AC coaches to accommodate various passenger preferences.
  2. CSMT-Latur Weekly Specials: Eight services will be added, enhancing connectivity between Mumbai and Latur. The trains will cover stops at significant locations including Dadar, Kalyan, and Pune.
  3. CSMT-Agartala Weekly Specials: For passengers travelling to the northeastern state of Tripura, four services will operate, covering a vast route with numerous halts across major cities like Guwahati and Patna.
  4. LTT-Nagpur Weekly Superfast Specials: This route will see four additional services, aiming to ease travel between Mumbai and Nagpur, with halts at strategic points including Thane, Kalyan, and Akola.
  5. LTT-Karimnagar Weekly Specials: Four new services will bridge Mumbai with Karimnagar, incorporating several key halts to cater to passengers travelling to Telangana.
  6. LTT-Sawantwadi Road Weekly Specials: The service will offer eight weekly trains with key stops including Panvel and Ratnagiri, catering to those heading to the Konkan region.
  7. LTT-Kochuveli Weekly Specials: This service will operate eight times a week, facilitating travel from Mumbai to Kerala with numerous stops en route.
  8. Panvel-Sawantwadi Road Weekly Specials: Enhanced connectivity with eight weekly services featuring halts at important stations such as Roha and Khed.
  9. Pune-Sawantwadi Road Weekly Specials: This route will see eight additional services, easing travel between Pune and the Konkan region.
  • Nagpur-Pune Weekly Superfast Specials: Six services will be added to improve the link between Nagpur and Pune.
  • Nagpur-Samastipur Weekly Specials: Six services will bridge Nagpur with Bihar, covering significant stops along the route.
  • Pune-Hazrat Nizamuddin Weekly Superfast Specials: Four services will connect Pune with the national capital region.
  • Pune-Danapur Daily Specials: A daily service of 28 trains will operate, providing frequent connectivity between Pune and Danapur.
  • Pune-Gorakhpur Daily Specials: A daily service of 42 trains will cater to passengers travelling between Pune and Gorakhpur.
  • Pune-Jodhpur Weekly Specials: Four services will enhance connectivity between Pune and Jodhpur, with numerous halts along the way.
  • Pune-Dahar Ka Balaji Weekly Specials: Four services will run between Pune and Dahar Ka Balaji, covering essential stops.

Reservations for these special trains will open on 13th September 2024 through all computerized reservation centres and online via the IRCTC website. Passengers are encouraged to book early to secure their seats.
