The Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited (GTDC) has invited private players to develop and operate a public amenity hub on a 55-square-metre parcel near Baga beach, aiming to expand visitor-support services at one of North Goa’s busiest coastal destinations.
GTDC has issued an expression of interest (EOI) for a partner that can plan, construct and operate the facility under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The proposed hub could include a tourism retail or local souvenir store, bicycle or two-wheeler services, a snack counter and tourist information or activity-booking services.
The corporation said the EOI will help it assess interest and capabilities among prospective private partners, understand their broad proposals and expectations, and gather inputs for structuring and developing the project. The process is therefore intended to shape the final form and operating framework of the amenity facility.
A GTDC official said the corporation was seeking private investment and operational expertise to upgrade visitor-support infrastructure at Baga. The proposed services are intended to complement the facilities already available in the area, which receives visitors as one of North Goa’s most visited coastal hubs.
The land parcel is located close to a parking lot that GTDC has also handed over to a private player for operation. The proximity of the two facilities could link parking and visitor services in the same part of the beach destination, although GTDC has not disclosed the proposed partner, investment size, construction schedule or operating period for the new hub.
The EOI allows GTDC to obtain proposals before finalising the project’s detailed structure. The corporation has not yet announced the number of private entities expected to be shortlisted, the criteria for selection, the terms of revenue sharing or the extent of commercial activity that will be permitted on the site.
The proposed amenity mix includes both public-facing and commercial services. Tourist information and activity-booking support would provide visitors with destination assistance, while rental services, refreshments and local retail could address common requirements at the beach. The final combination of services will depend on the proposals received and GTDC’s subsequent project decisions.
GTDC’s move comes as the corporation seeks to use a small parcel of prime land for organised visitor facilities through private participation. The EOI stage will determine whether prospective operators are interested in developing the site and what operating models they propose. Further details on the selection process and implementation timeline are expected after GTDC evaluates the responses.
