Warangal heavy rain has prompted authorities across the erstwhile Warangal region to intensify monitoring of tanks, streams, drains and vulnerable areas, after Mahabubabad recorded average rainfall of 82.1 mm and several mandals reported more than 100 mm. District officials said the rainfall was recorded until Thursday morning, with more heavy rain possible.
Nellikudur recorded the highest rainfall in Mahabubabad district at 123.6 mm, followed by Maripeda at 122.6 mm and Peddavangara at 118.6 mm. Thorrur recorded 104.6 mm, while Chinnagudur and Narsimhulapet received 103.4 mm and 101.6 mm, respectively. Dantalapalli recorded 89.2 mm, and Dornakal and Kesamudram received 83.2 mm each.
Mahabubabad town recorded 75.4 mm. The district’s reported total rainfall stood at 1,314.2 mm. The distribution indicates that intense rainfall was spread across several mandals rather than being confined to one localised pocket, increasing the need for continued checks on water-holding infrastructure and low-lying areas.
Warangal district also experienced heavy rainfall, with Geesugonda recording the highest level at 104.7 mm. Sangem received 96.8 mm, Wardhannapet 98.6 mm, Parvathagiri 89.1 mm, Chennaraopet 86 mm and Warangal 87.7 mm. The district recorded average rainfall of 78.7 mm.
According to an official report, heavy rainfall was recorded in Geesugonda, Duggondi, Chennaraopet, Sangem, Wardhannapet, Rayaparthy, Parvathagiri, Nekkonda, Khila Warangal and Warangal mandals. Moderate rainfall was reported in Nallabelly, Narsampet and Khanapur.
The rainfall has placed local water-management systems and emergency coordination at the centre of the administration’s response. Hanamkonda Collector Chahat Bajpai directed officials to remain alert and continuously monitor water levels in tanks, streams and drains. She also asked officials to take precautionary measures in vulnerable areas.
Bajpai held a Google Meet from the Hanamkonda Collectorate with officials from various departments, municipal commissioners, tahsildars and mandal parishad development officers. The meeting brought together district and local administration personnel responsible for monitoring water flows, municipal areas and potentially affected locations.
With the possibility of more heavy rainfall, the Collector directed officials, staff and local administration personnel to remain vigilant and continue taking precautionary measures. The administration’s immediate focus is on monitoring water levels and identifying risks in vulnerable areas as rainfall conditions develop.
