Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has undertaken a significant repair initiative to address the pothole problems along the Hinjewadi Metro Corridor. This move comes in response to growing concerns from commuters and residents about the deteriorating road conditions impacting travel and safety.
The Hinjewadi Metro Corridor, a crucial infrastructure project aimed at improving urban mobility, has faced issues with potholes and road damage, which have been exacerbated by recent heavy rains. These road defects have led to increased travel times and safety hazards for commuters, prompting the PMRDA to act swiftly.
According to a PMRDA spokesperson, the repair work involves filling potholes with high-quality materials to ensure durability and long-term performance. “We recognise the importance of maintaining smooth and safe roads for the efficient operation of the Metro project. Our teams have been working diligently to repair the potholes and improve road conditions along the corridor,” the spokesperson said. The PMRDA has also implemented temporary traffic management measures to minimise disruptions during the repair work. These include adjusted traffic signals and lane closures to ensure that the repair teams can work efficiently while maintaining traffic flow.
The repair initiative is part of a broader strategy by the PMRDA to enhance infrastructure in key areas of Pune, particularly those affected by ongoing construction and development projects. By addressing the pothole issue promptly, the authority aims to improve commuter experience and ensure the safety and efficiency of the Hinjewadi Metro Corridor. Residents and commuters have welcomed the repair efforts, highlighting the need for continuous maintenance to prevent such issues from recurring. The PMRDA has assured the public that it will continue to monitor road conditions and address any emerging issues promptly.
