Navitas Solar plans to invest ₹10,000 crore over the next five years in Gujarat and Maharashtra to expand across solar manufacturing, battery storage and renewable power generation, The Hindu BusinessLine reported, citing a company statement.
The investment is intended to create an integrated clean-energy business covering solar ingots, wafers, cells and modules, along with battery energy storage systems and renewable power generation. The company currently has annual solar module manufacturing capacity of 3 gigawatts.
In Gujarat, Navitas Solar is already building a 2.4-gigawatt solar cell plant at Sisodara. The first phase of the facility involves an investment of about ₹1,200 crore and is targeted to begin operations by July 2027, according to the company.
The company also plans to establish a 5 gigawatt-hour battery storage facility in Vadodara. The project would add energy storage to Navitas Solar’s manufacturing expansion in the state, although the company statement cited in the report did not provide a commissioning timeline for the facility.
In Maharashtra, Navitas Solar is developing two solar parks with capacities of 200 megawatts and 25 megawatts. The company did not disclose a total investment split between the two states or provide separate completion schedules for the Maharashtra projects in the information reported.
The planned expansion would extend Navitas Solar’s operations beyond solar module manufacturing into upstream components, cells, storage and renewable power generation. That combination links industrial manufacturing capacity with electricity generation and storage infrastructure across two states.
The investment announcement comes as Navitas Solar seeks to broaden its presence in India’s clean-energy sector. The company statement did not specify the projected employment generated by the projects, the financing structure for the ₹10,000 crore programme or whether the proposed investment includes land, transmission and other associated infrastructure costs.
The immediate project milestone identified by the company is the first phase of the Sisodara solar cell plant, which is scheduled to start operations by July 2027. Further details on the Vadodara battery facility, the Maharashtra solar parks and the remaining investment are yet to be announced.
