IndiGo has increased charges for several ancillary passenger services, raising the cost of air travel for families, passengers carrying excess baggage and children travelling without a parent or guardian. The revised charges include fees for infants below two years, priority check-in and boarding, travel certificates and the airline’s unaccompanied minor service.
The charge for an infant travelling with an adult has risen from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000. The fee applies to children who are more than three days old and below two years of age at the time of travel. Although the infant is not provided with a separate seat and travels on a parent’s or family member’s lap, a separate ticket is required.
Parents must provide a document confirming the child’s age during check-in. Acceptable documents include a birth certificate, vaccination certificate or passport. If proof of age is not available, the applicable full fare may be charged, according to the airline’s stated requirements.
IndiGo has also increased the combined charge for priority check-in and priority boarding from Rs 450 to Rs 650. The fee for obtaining a travel certificate has gone up from Rs 200 to Rs 300. These charges are separate from the basic airfare and can increase the final amount paid by passengers while booking or completing airport formalities.
The fee for the airline’s service for eligible children travelling without a parent or guardian has been raised from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,999. The service is not available to children below five years of age under IndiGo’s rules. The revised amount applies to children who meet the airline’s eligibility requirements for travelling alone.
The changes are particularly relevant to passengers travelling with infants, families arranging journeys for children and travellers seeking faster airport processing. Ancillary services such as priority check-in, priority boarding and travel documentation are priced separately from the base fare, making the total travel cost dependent on the services selected and the passenger’s circumstances.
The report does not specify whether the revised charges apply to bookings made before the change or only to new bookings.
