Police in Noida have registered a case against one named man and three unidentified people after a private company manager was allegedly dragged out of an auto-rickshaw and assaulted on the FNG Expressway on Wednesday evening. Sector-63 police are examining CCTV footage and pursuing the accused, according to Navbharat Times – Noida.
The woman, who lives in the Radha Sky Garden society in Greater Noida West and works as a manager at Express Builders in Sector 63, had left her office at about 6.30 pm. She was travelling towards Parthala and had boarded an auto-rickshaw near the Sector-63 police station at the FNG intersection.
According to her complaint, she had an argument with a man identified as Amar Singh Yadav after he objected to her speaking loudly. She alleged that Yadav threatened her. The woman then got out of the first auto-rickshaw and boarded another vehicle to continue towards Parthala.
The complaint states that Yadav followed the auto-rickshaw on a motorcycle and allegedly shared the woman’s location with people travelling in a black Scorpio without a number plate. When the auto-rickshaw reached the FNG bridge, the motorcycle was allegedly placed in front of it, forcing the vehicle to stop.
The woman told police that two men and two women, including Yadav, got out of the Scorpio. She alleged that the group pulled her out of the auto-rickshaw by her hair and beat her. One of the women allegedly struck her hand with an object, causing injury and making her fall. The group left after people began raising an alarm, according to the complaint.
Sector-63 police have registered a case under Sections 126(2), 115(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The sections relate to wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation. Police said the allegations were being investigated and that CCTV footage from the route was being reviewed to identify and locate the accused.
The incident comes amid continuing concerns over women’s safety in Noida and Greater Noida. Navbharat Times – Noida also referred to an August 4 case involving the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl on a sleeper bus travelling from Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk towards Delhi. Delhi Police had arrested the bus driver and conductor in that case, while the National Human Rights Commission sought investigation reports from the police commissioners of Delhi and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The immediate police action in the FNG Expressway case is focused on reviewing surveillance footage, establishing the sequence of events and taking steps to arrest the accused named in the complaint.
