Central Railway is running Ganpati special trains for devotees travelling to their hometowns during Ganeshotsav, making festival journeys easier across its network, the railway said.
Ganeshotsav is a major Hindu festival in Maharashtra, with families and communities travelling to ancestral towns and villages for worship and public celebrations. Rail services provide an important travel option during this period, when demand for seats and station access rises along routes serving the Konkan region and other parts of the state.
The special service is intended for passengers making festival journeys to their native places. Central Railway’s Ganpati trains add capacity to regular operations, allowing more devotees to plan rail travel during a period of concentrated movement.
Festival travel affects more than the train journey itself. Additional services can help distribute passenger demand across available trains, reduce pressure on regular services and support orderly movement through stations.
