Faridabad’s Green Field Colony is facing an enforcement drive against commercial activities operating in properties approved for residential use, with notices pasted on around 80 property owners and establishments, according to the DTP Enforcement department. The noticees have been given seven days to respond and restore the premises to their approved use, after which sealing action may follow.
The action covers shops, hotels, restaurants, property dealer offices and grocery stores operating in the colony. The department said the notices were issued after receiving complaints about commercial activity in the residential area and identifying properties whose use allegedly did not match their sanctioned building plans, zoning plans or occupation-related permissions.
Green Field Colony is a residential locality near the Delhi border where commercial establishments attract customers during the morning and evening. The enforcement action has affected businesses operating from the ground floors and basements of properties, as well as the owners of the buildings in which those establishments function.
A notice issued by the DTP Enforcement department specifically refers to a plot in Green Field Colony and names the ground-floor and basement owners along with the institutions operating there as parties to the proceedings. The order, dated September 2, 2025, states that the plot was approved for residential use under the sanctioned layout and zoning plan. The department said it had found activities being carried out on the premises other than the approved residential use.
The department also said the concerned parties had earlier been served a show-cause notice on January 30, 2025, giving them an opportunity to explain the alleged violations and submit supporting documents. According to the department, satisfactory responses were not submitted, and the building was not restored in accordance with the sanctioned plan.
The latest notices direct the concerned parties to remove the alleged unauthorised use and restore the premises within seven days of receiving the order. The restoration must conform to the approved building plan, occupation certificate or sanctioned colony layout plan. The department has warned that further action will be taken if the directions are not followed within the specified period.
Under the rules applicable to licensed colonies in Haryana, buildings are required to be used according to their sanctioned building and zoning plans. A property approved for residential use cannot be converted to commercial use without permission from the competent authority, according to the department’s explanation of the applicable rules.
Yajan Chaudhary, DTP Enforcement, said the action was not directed at one particular establishment but was being taken under the rules in cases involving violations of approved land use and building plans. The department’s stated next step is to assess compliance after the seven-day period and proceed with further enforcement, including sealing where required.
