Delhi Traffic Alert: Sewer, Metro Works Slow Key Routes

Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid parts of Janakpuri and the Chirag Delhi–Sheikh Sarai corridor after sewer work and metro construction disrupted traffic on Monday. Drivers have been asked to use alternative routes, allow additional travel time and follow instructions from traffic personnel deployed at the affected locations.

Traffic movement on Lal Sai Marg in Janakpuri has been affected and restricted because of sewer work being carried out by the Delhi Jal Board. The police have advised motorists to avoid the route while the work continues.

Vehicles travelling from Pankha Road towards Jail Road can use Najafgarh Road as an alternative. Commuters travelling from Jail Road towards Pankha Road or Dwarka have been advised to use the service road and Najafgarh Road.

Traffic is also moving slowly between Chirag Delhi and Sheikh Sarai because metro construction has narrowed the carriageway. The reduced road width is affecting vehicle movement along the corridor.

The traffic advisory also identified repeated stopping by buses near the bus stand before the Sheikh Sarai red light as an additional cause of disruption. Traffic personnel are present at the site and are regulating vehicles to maintain movement through the affected stretch.

The advisory covers both route restrictions and expected delays. Commuters using the Janakpuri, Pankha Road, Jail Road, Chirag Delhi and Sheikh Sarai corridors have been asked to plan their journeys with extra time and comply with directions issued by traffic police at the spot.

Delhi Traffic Police has asked motorists to avoid Lal Sai Marg where possible and use the available diversions until traffic conditions improve. The report did not specify the expected completion date for the sewer work or the metro construction activity.
