Police in Ghaziabad have registered a case against four alleged office-bearers of the Hindu Raksha Dal after a cafe owner in Indirapuram accused them of repeatedly leaving without paying, threatening to shut her business and demanding ₹50,000 a month. The woman had appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for justice before approaching the Indirapuram police station.
The accused have been identified as Amit Peहलवान, Daksh Chaudhary, Akku Pandit and Saurabh Pandit. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Indirapuram, Suryabali Maurya, confirmed that a case had been registered and said the allegations were being investigated. The officer said action would be taken against those found responsible after the inquiry.
According to the cafe owner’s complaint, members of the organisation allegedly visited her cafe on several occasions, consumed food and beverages and left without paying the bill. She said that when she asked them to pay, they allegedly abused her and threatened to force the cafe to close. The complaint states that the repeated incidents caused her distress and affected the operation of the business.
The woman has also alleged that the group demanded ₹50,000 every month as extortion. She told the police that she paid ₹25,000 out of fear but was later pressured to pay the remaining amount. The complaint includes allegations of a disturbance at the cafe, threats and damage, although the police investigation will determine the facts and the responsibility of each accused person.
A video connected to the dispute has also circulated on social media. It reportedly shows several people associated with the Hindu Raksha Dal celebrating a worker’s birthday at the cafe. The video is said to have been recorded in February, but Live Hindustan reported that it had not independently verified the footage. Police are examining the video as part of the investigation.
The case followed competing public claims about the cafe. Two days before the report, members of the Hindu Raksha Dal released a video alleging that the establishment was being operated illegally. The cafe owner later issued her own video, accusing the group’s office-bearers of refusing to pay bills, creating a disturbance, threatening her and demanding what she described as a ‘goonda tax’, while seeking the chief minister’s intervention.
The police have not announced the outcome of the investigation or confirmed the allegations against the accused. The next step is the examination of the complaint, video material and other evidence before further action is taken.
