Hyderabad heavy rain caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas after renewed active monsoon conditions brought intense showers across Telangana during the last 24 hours, with Siddipet recording the highest rainfall in the State.
Rainfall data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed that Kondapak mandal in Siddipet district received 145.3 mm of rain. Other locations in the district also recorded intense rainfall, including Thipparam in Kukunoorpally mandal at 114.8 mm, Nangnoor at 109.3 mm and Husnabad at 101.5 mm.
Chegunta in neighbouring Medak district recorded 108 mm, placing it among the five locations with the highest rainfall reported during the period. Medak, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Karimnagar districts also experienced significant downpours.
In Hyderabad, several areas in and around Secunderabad witnessed heavy rain and waterlogging, particularly in low-lying locations. The Begumpet IMD observatory and the Gymkhana grounds area recorded the highest rainfall within the city region, with 95 mm reported at the Begumpet observatory and 95 mm at Gymkhana.
Rainfall monitoring points across the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation region recorded substantial precipitation. The Begumpet IMD Office station in Balanagar registered 95.5 mm, while the Gymkhana ESS station in Tirumalagiri recorded 95 mm. Bowenpally Ward Office recorded 87 mm, Picket Government Primary School in Maredpally recorded 72.5 mm and the Community Hall in Telecom Colony, Alwal, recorded 70.8 mm.
The rainfall led to water accumulation in low-lying parts of the city, affecting areas around Secunderabad, Bowenpally, Alwal and surrounding zones. The reported distribution of rainfall shows that both central monitoring locations and northern Hyderabad neighbourhoods received heavy showers during the period.
The latest rainfall figures come as Telangana remains under renewed active monsoon conditions. The TDPS rainfall readings and observations from the Begumpet IMD observatory provide the recorded rainfall totals for the affected districts and GHMC-region locations.
