Kalyan Court Case: 1,832-Page Chargesheet Filed Against Corporator

KALYAN | September 11, 2026 — Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Sukarya Mhatre appeared before the Kalyan District and Sessions Court on Friday in connection with the alleged assault of doctors at Shastrinagar Hospital, while police submitted a 1,832-page chargesheet in the case earlier this week. Mhatre denied the allegations against him during the proceedings.

Mhatre, who represents the Kopar ward in Dombivli, appeared before Judicial Magistrate First Class Nilesh Vasade at the Kalyan court’s third court around 9.30 a.m., according to the report. He entered the court premises without a security convoy or accompanying entourage, moving through the crowd of litigants and lawyers.

The case relates to an alleged assault involving doctors at the municipal-run Shastrinagar Hospital. The report identifies Mhatre and other supporters as accused in the matter. Details of the specific charges were not provided in the supplied report, and the allegations have not been established by a court.

Police filed the chargesheet at the Kalyan court on Wednesday, following an investigation conducted over the previous two months. The investigation was carried out in accordance with directions issued by the Bombay High Court, which had instructed the authorities to complete the inquiry and submit the chargesheet within the prescribed period.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Kalyan division Atul Zende supervised the investigation, the report said. Special public prosecutor Prakash Sal싱gikar submitted the chargesheet in the presence of the deputy commissioner. The document runs to 1,832 pages and includes statements from 32 witnesses connected with the case.

The witnesses include nursing staff from Shastrinagar Hospital and other people associated with the alleged incident. The report did not provide details of the evidence or witness statements contained in the chargesheet. Those materials will be considered through the judicial process.

Mhatre’s appearance followed the filing of the chargesheet and the commencement of proceedings before the Kalyan court. He rejected the accusations during the hearing, while the prosecution is represented by Sal싱gikar. The case remains before the court, and the allegations against the accused remain subject to judicial determination.

The next stages of the proceedings will be governed by the court’s orders after consideration of the chargesheet and the material placed before it.
