Thane Car Accident Kills Pedestrian, Injures Two in Kalwa

Thane Car Accident: A 45-year-old pedestrian woman died and two people were injured after a car hit three people in the Kharegaon area of Kalwa, Thane, on Sunday morning, police said. The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver allegedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

The deceased was identified as Shubhangi Patil, 45. Ayush Patil, 28, was injured, while Malashree Pujari, 32, sustained serious injuries. Both injured people are receiving treatment at a hospital, according to the report.

Police said the accused driver, identified as Abhishek Kadam, 31, was travelling from Kharegaon towards Kurla when the crash occurred. Kadam, who lives with his family in Kurla, had reportedly visited a relative living in Kharegaon and was returning home when the vehicle struck the pedestrians.

According to the preliminary information cited by police, Kadam’s foot landed on the accelerator instead of the brake while he was driving. The car consequently accelerated, and he lost control before hitting the three people on the road.

An offence has been registered against Kadam at Kalwa police station. The case concerns the death of Patil and injuries sustained by the two other pedestrians. Police said further legal action would be taken as the investigation progresses.

The crash comes under investigation by Kalwa police, while the injured victims remain under medical care. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the applicable legal process.
