Western Railway will operate a Mumbai-Palitana special train from Bandra Terminus on September 6 and has extended several Mumbai-bound special services to Ahmedabad and Indore through November, citing increased passenger demand.
Train 09023 will depart Bandra Terminus at 7:25 p.m. on September 6 and reach Palitana at 9:25 a.m. the following day. The return service, train 09024, will leave Palitana at 8 p.m. on September 7 and arrive at Bandra Terminus at 9:30 a.m. on September 8.
The special train will stop at Borivali, Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Botad, Dhola, Songadh and Sihor. It will have sleeper-class and general second-class coaches. Western Railway will charge special fares for the service, according to the information reported by Loksatta.
The two services are intended to provide additional capacity on the Mumbai–Palitana route. The announcement comes as the railway continues to operate temporary services on routes connecting Mumbai with Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Western Railway has also extended the operation of the Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad special train. Its scheduled trips will now run through November 25 and 26, respectively. The Mumbai Central–Indore services numbered 09079 and 09080 have been extended through November 29 and 30, while services numbered 09085 and 09086 will run through November 27 and 28, respectively.
Reservations for the special trains are available at railway reservation centres and through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website. Passengers will need to check the applicable train schedule, availability and special fare details before booking.
