The Bengaluru Urban district administration has begun reviewing discrepancies in the digitisation and mapping of voter-enumeration forms in Byatarayanapura Assembly Constituency, while the Election Commission has said remaining polling stations cited in a complaint will also be verified.
The review concerns the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the 2026 electoral roll. District election officials said on Wednesday that electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers had examined cases reported across three polling parts in the constituency. The complaint also cited polling parts 158, 284, 206, 161, 163, 167, 168, 176 and 177.
According to the district election official’s press release, 722 of the 1,249 voters in Part 206 had their forms digitised, while 488 were marked as having no mapping. Of those 488 cases, 434 voters had not provided details from the 2002 SIR electoral roll, 51 had submitted incomplete or incorrect information, and three had been mistakenly marked as having no mapping despite providing correct details.
In Part 176, forms for 866 of 1,349 voters were digitised and 92 cases were marked no mapping. Officials said 85 of those voters had not provided their 2002 roll details and seven had mismatches. No cases in that part were identified as having been incorrectly marked no mapping.
In Part 177, 778 of 1,388 voters had their forms digitised, while 113 were marked no mapping. Officials attributed 104 of those cases to the absence of 2002 roll details and nine to mismatches. Verification by the Election Commission is still pending in the remaining polling booths, including Parts 158 and 284, which were reported to have a large number of discrepancies.
The Election Commission has said that other polling stations identified in the petition filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, the complainant in the matter, will also be verified. It said action would be taken according to the applicable rules after the verification process.
For voters who correctly provided their details from the 2002 SIR roll but were nevertheless marked as no mapping, the concerned electoral registration officer and assistant electoral registration officer will conduct an inquiry. Officials said documents would be collected from such voters and the cases would be verified at the assistant district election officer level.
The district administration said eligible voters found to have been incorrectly excluded from mapping would be taken up for registration in the final electoral roll. It also urged voters not to panic while the verification process continues.
The period for filing claims and objections is open from August 24 to September 23. Hearings and disposal of claims and objections will continue until October 22, according to the election officials. Verification of the remaining polling parts and the disposal of claims will determine how the disputed cases are reflected in the final voter list.
