The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has set forth an ambitious plan to raise Rs 7,635 crore in the current fiscal year through the sale of land parcels adjacent to the Yamuna Expressway and the upcoming Noida International Airport. This strategic initiative aims to bolster the local economy, facilitate urban development, and fund crucial projects including the airport expansion, Film City, and the Agra Urban Centre.
YEIDA officials underscore the urgency of these funds, particularly highlighting the need for Rs 6,000 crore solely for land acquisition to compensate farmers. With plans to acquire 13,000 hectares this fiscal year, the authority is leveraging various plot schemes to secure necessary funds. Over the past decade, YEIDA has already allocated housing plots to 13 real estate developers along the expressway. Recently, it also allotted land for two societies and two hotels near the Jewar airport, generating approximately Rs 250 crore in revenue. This proactive approach reflects YEIDA’s commitment to maximizing revenue streams from its extensive land holdings, covering 2 lakh hectares across six districts including GB Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, and Agra.
YEIDA’s revenue projections for the fiscal year highlight diverse income sources, including Rs 2,531 crore from housing plots, Rs 736 crore from institutional plots, and Rs 830 crore from industrial plots, among others. The authority anticipates substantial demand particularly in sectors around the expressway as the Noida International Airport nears operational status, evidenced by robust applications for residential plots in recent schemes. According to YEIDA officials, the strong market response, with bids surpassing reserve prices for recent land sales, underscores growing investor confidence and market buoyancy in the region. The forthcoming operationalization of the airport is expected to further stimulate demand, positioning YEIDA to meet revenue targets and advance its developmental agenda effectively.
