The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has intensified its monsoon road maintenance programme after more than 1,400 potholes were reported across the city, highlighting the continuing challenge of preserving urban road quality during the rainy season. While civic authorities have completed repairs on the majority of damaged stretches, ongoing restoration work underscores the need for resilient road infrastructure capable of withstanding increasingly intense weather conditions.
According to municipal data, 1,416 potholes were identified across different parts of Ahmedabad. Repair work has been completed on 1,310 locations, while restoration activities remain in progress at 106 sites. The figures indicate that the civic body has addressed most reported complaints within a short period, although road maintenance continues as fresh damage emerges during active monsoon spells. The Ahmedabad pothole repairs campaign comes at a time when sustained rainfall is placing additional pressure on ageing road surfaces and underground utility networks. Water infiltration, repeated vehicle movement and fluctuating weather conditions often accelerate the deterioration of asphalt roads, particularly at heavily trafficked junctions and arterial corridors.
