The plan, currently in early survey stage, is expected to integrate greenery, lighting upgrades and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, signalling a shift towards more sustainable and experience-driven urban mobility corridors. According to planning officials, initial groundwork has begun with inter-agency consultations involving urban development, highways and civic bodies and the Gateway of Chennai corridor project. The project is positioned as a coordinated effort to improve first impressions for travellers arriving through the Chennai International Airport while reducing visual clutter and enhancing ecological balance.
