Delhi-NCR’s air pollution battle has entered a sharper enforcement phase, with regulators identifying dozens of fresh environmental breaches across industrial units, construction sites and diesel generator operations over the past fortnight.
The intensified action signals a growing push to tighten compliance in one of India’s most pollution-stressed urban corridors, where deteriorating air quality continues to weigh heavily on public health, mobility and economic productivity. Fresh enforcement data reviewed by Urban Acres shows that inspection teams operating across the National Capital Region detected 66 violations between late May and mid-June. The findings emerged from nearly 200 spot inspections covering factories, diesel generator installations and active construction zones. A significant share of the violations came from diesel generator usage a major contributor to particulate pollution, especially during peak electricity demand and summer outages. Industrial units accounted for the second-largest share, while construction dust remained a persistent source of urban emissions.
